IGLESIA DE EL SALVADOR
La Iglesia de El Salvador fue construida entre los siglos XVI y comienzos del XVII, constituyendo uno de los principales ejemplos de arquitectura religiosa de Tiedra.
El templo responde al estilo gótico tardío y presenta una planta longitudinal de una sola nave, cubierta con estructura de par e hilera, ábside poligonal y espadaña situada en el muro occidental.
Todo el edificio está realizado en sillería de piedra y cubierto con teja cerámica tradicional, reflejando la sobriedad y solidez características de la arquitectura castellana de la época.
En el interior destaca el arco triunfal de medio punto que da acceso a la capilla mayor, decorada con una elegante bóveda de crucería estrellada realizada durante la primera mitad del siglo XVI.
La iglesia conserva además un importante conjunto de bienes muebles fechados entre los siglos XVI y XVII.
Entre ellos sobresale el retablo mayor, atribuido a la Escuela de Toro, uno de los focos artísticos más destacados del Renacimiento castellano.
Actualmente, la Iglesia de El Salvador es la única parroquia en activo de la localidad y continúa desempeñando un importante papel en la vida religiosa y social de la villa.
CHURCH OF EL SALVADOR
The Church of El Salvador was built between the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century, becoming one of the main examples of religious architecture in Tiedra.
The church is designed in the Late Gothic style and features a single-nave longitudinal layout, covered with a traditional timber roof structure, a polygonal apse and a bell gable rising from the western wall.
The entire building is constructed from finely cut stone masonry and roofed with traditional ceramic tiles, reflecting the sobriety and solidity characteristic of Castilian architecture of the period.
Inside, particular attention is drawn to the semicircular triumphal arch leading to the main chapel, decorated with an elegant stellar ribbed vault built during the first half of the 16th century.
The church also preserves an important collection of movable heritage dating from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Among these pieces, the main altarpiece stands out, attributed to the School of Toro, one of the most important artistic centres of the Castilian Renaissance.
Today, the Church of El Salvador remains the only active parish church in the village and continues to play an important role in the religious and social life of the community.
